Roxas City -- Alsons Aquaculture Corporation (AAC), in a joint undertaking with Pueblo de Panay, Inc. (PDPI) and Glacier Panay Refrigeration Services Corporation (GPANAY), inaugurated a P60-million seafood processing facility in Roxas City, Capiz last May 8, 2018.
The new 750-metric ton seafood processing facility built by PDPI is designed to process value-added frozen milkfish and other seafood products and is located in the agro-industrial zone of Pueblo de Panay Township in Barangay Lawaan, Roxas City. The processing plant will have a daily raw material processing capacity of 4 metric tons per day and will be the largest milkfish processing facility in Region 6 that will produce Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point (HACCP) and export compliant variants of frozen milkfish and other seafood products. Envisioned to generate 150 jobs, the plant is equipped with its own ice-making and blast-freezing machines, a fish cooking and smoking section, a waste water treatment plant and covers a production area of 1,000 square meters.
AAC will primarily source its milkfish supply from Capiz, Aklan, Iloilo, Guimaras, and Negros Occidental and is projected to generate P100 million worth of economic activity coming from the sale of freshly harvested milkfish, processing plant labor, supply of non-fish materials, like marinade ingredients and packaging materials, and ancillary services. With this new processing plant, AAC stamps its long term presence and commitment in the region, offering a stable, new market for the milkfish industry stakeholders of Region 6.
